Xavier Farrell

Xavier Farrell received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is now pursuing a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan. While at UMass Amherst, he contributed to research advised by Professor Jayant Taneja investigating the grid effects of high electric vehicle penetration in Nariobi, Kenya. At UofM, Farrell is supporting work aimed at reducing the energy burden experienced by Detroit, MI residents through the Smart and Connected Communities project advised by Professor Johanna Mathieu. His current research interests include electric load modeling of individual homes and electricity rate plan recommender systems. Xavier’s other interests include sports, and music, and he makes time to be involved in his local church.
