Austin Lin

Student

Austin Lin received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Northeastern University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan under Professor Johanna Mathieu. At Northeastern, he was able to experience two 6 month internships, at Jacobs Engineering and Lutron Electronics, where he gained industry experience designing lighting devices and electrical systems for buildings. This piqued his interest in power systems and buildings science. His research interests are in building and grid interactions, with a focus on smart buildings that can increase the ability of the grid to integrate renewable power generation. He has specifically been working on understanding and modeling the dynamics of HVAC demand response. Outside of academia, he is a volunteer track and field coach at a local high school.
